7 days, 84 tables, 1.000 cueists, 15 national competitions, snooker & trickshot exhibitions and the International Open were the basic data of the CEP Spanish Pool Championships on July 2-8.
Besides several team contests in different classes and divisions particular attention was paid to the single competitions.
In the Juniors 8-ball division Francisco Sanchez showed again his abilitiy: From last 32 he run with 4-0,4-0,5-1 and 5-2 through the final rounds and beat Nikko Springer 5-3 in the final.
In a similar manner Guillermo Fernandez dominated the seniors 8-ball field.
In the final he defeated Eduardo Guillen 5-3.
In mens 8-ball section an international known face had the last laugh.
2007 World Pool Masters runner up David Alcaide captured the title.
But 2 others at Pazo de Feiras e Congresos took more honours.
In ladies 8-ball and 9-ball sections one woman controlled her opponents like no other. Amalia Matas captured both crowns and the final results tell their own tale: 5-0 and 6-0.
In mens 9-ball final it came to an explosive duel - Raul Hebles and Carlos Cabello know each other from important matches in the past. At the end Hebles overcame Cabello 9-5.
But that still wasn't the end of the story.
At the weekend ld the International Lugo 9-Ball Open included pros like GB's best known pool players Daryl Peach and Imran Majid as well as Malta's Tony Drago.
But again 2 Spaniards took centre stage.
Carlos Cabello overcame David Alcaide 9-4 (last 16) and Daryl Peach 9-4 (semis) and took a final spot.
Raul Hebles defeated Imran Majid 9-8 (quarters) and David Morales 9-7 (semis) to reach his second Lugo final in 7 days.
And Hebles seized his chance to become double champion: Just as in the Nationals final he beat Cabello 9-5 and earned the 5.000 € prize money.
