Issara Kachaiwong helped local fans wipe off the bitter memory of city-mate Mana Upraphai's earlier loss in the CAT Telecom-Chanthaburi Thailand Cup 2007 within 60 minutes with an awesome potting display on Sunday.

Issara, the 2006 Asian champion who is now playing professionally in the United Kingdom as well, was in great form to impress a large crowd and rout veteran Suriya Suwannasingh 4-0 in their last 32 round encounter at the New Travel Lodge Hotel.

Issara, ranked No. 1 in the Kingdom, was down to business from the go and a long pot on the red on his only second visit to the table led to an absorbing clearance of 135 points, which also wrote off the highest break mark of 126 set by Noppadol Sangnil earlier in the qualifying rounds.

There was more to come in a similar fashion in the second frame as Issara ran riot once again, this time picking up a clearance of 127 points. The run should have ended at 134 points had not the cue ball disappeared in the far pocket after Issara had potted the difficult last black to concede seven penalty points.

From then on the writing was on the wall and Issara apparently eased the pressure on the gas pedal. Suriya was able to pick points here and there, but the match was over in just 60 minutes.

Issara's last 16 round rival will be the winner of Monday's wildcard round clash between world No. 53 Stuart Pettman of England and young Poramin Danjirakul.

The first match the day was also played at a turbo-charged pace, but it ended in a disappointment as far as the local fans are concerned.

Mana, also a Chanthaburi native, had done well to capture the first two frames, but then Chatchawal came of out his corner with a vengeance and started showing his mettle to the crowd.

He started the recovery in style and capped by taking four frames in a row for a 4-2 victory to move into the next round where he faces Thai snooker hero Ratchapol Pu-Ob-Orm on Monday afternoon at the same venue.

Also in action on Monday will be world No. 24 Michael Holt of England, who faces first-time qualifier Saharat Charoensak, and China's world No. 72 Liu Song, who takes on Ekarin Chanmanee.

Frame scores
Last 32 round: Chatchawal Rutphae beat Mana Upraphai 4-2 (30-79, 14-79(56), 73-34, 89(58)-1, 68-8, 77-31); Issara Kachaiwong beat Suriya Suwannasingh 4-0 (135(135)-0, 127(127)-7, 69-16, 58-16)
