It took 7 years until the republic in northwestern South America could celebrate the next victory at continental championships. In the beginning of September it was that time again.
At Sala de Ceremonias del Palacio Municipal in Montevideo, Uruguay, on September 3-7 went off the 17th edition of Pan-Am 3 Cushion Championships. 44 cueists from Peru, Ecuador, Mexico, Chile, Venezuela, Colombia, Argentina, Bolivia, Uruguay, Nicaragua and Guatemala were fighting for the crown, Pan Am Ranking points, a 4.000 USD prize fund and World Championships spots.

In quarters Alexander Salazar overcame Ecuador's reigning Pan Am Team Champion Javier Teran 3-2 and Henry Diaz lost to Rodolfo Covarrubias 1-3. Surprise in match 3: Luis Aveiga, the 1997, 2005 and 2006 Champion, lost to Miguel Almaraz 1-3. In match 4 Ramon Rodriguez kept with 3-2 kept control over Gabriel Vazquez.

Then Colombia's Alexander Salazar, who took part at Pan Am Champs for the first time, beat Mexico's Miguel Almaraz 3-2 in the final. At the end Salazar closed with 1.115 general average and entered the best match average of the tournament: 2.000. Best general average and the event's high break was played by Miguel Almaraz (1.245, 12)

But that's not all.

Alongside the men also the juniors were at work, for the sixth time Pan Am U21 Championships were held. At the end the second winners trophy within 4 days went to Colombia, when Jose Juan Garcia won ahead Ecuador's J.Marquinez and M.Fransoy from Argentina.
