KATIE Henrick was “over the moon” after clinching a first WLBSA ranking event at Cambridge SC.
Runner-up in Derbyshire last month, Henrick went one better to beat June Banks 3-1 in the East Anglian Championship final.
The 27-year-old from Bickley, Kent, pocketed £180 and is now provisionally ranked world number two.
“I’m really, really pleased,” said Henrick. “It was something I wanted to do this season and it took me up to number two as well, so that’s even more of a bonus.”
The former England international is a snooker professional at the RAC in Pall Mall and has played on the women’s circuit for ten years.
She lost to world number one Reanne Evans in the UK Championship final, the first event of the season.
Henrick added: “I’m really pleased to finally win one because I’ve had a couple of finals and not quite managed it, so to actually win today is such a boost.”
Banks was on course for a first tournament win since this event in 2005 after compiling breaks of 56, 41, 42 and 49 in the early rounds and taking a 1-0 lead in the final.
But the 38-year-old from Orpington, Kent, who picked up £80, said: “I ran out of steam in the end.”
World number one Evans, 21, was in action on the EASB Pro-Ticket Tour in Leeds.
Vicky Ashby, 24, from Hemel Hempstead, beat Hannah Jones from Derby, 2-0 in the Plate final.
England international Jones, 11, who is due to fly out to Thailand next month for the IBSF World Amateur Championships, reached a first final despite having had only four hours’ sleep the previous night.
