The fifth stop of the 2007/2008 McDermott All American Tour (produced by the American CueSports Alliance – ACS) was hosted at Rudy’s Place in Aurora, IL, on Saturday, October 20.  The $500 added event drew forty-two players in a double-elimination 8-ball format on 7-foot bar boxes.

Tom McCloskey (Des Plaines, IL) ran undefeated to the finals.  In the hot-seat match, McCloskey edged Jeff Sargent (Joliet, IL) 5-4.  Earlier in the A-bracket semi-finals, McCloskey dispatched Aaron Hernandez (Batavia, IL) 5-2, while Sargent eclipsed Paul Scott (Antioch, IL) 5-3.  In the B-side bracket Shane Minihan (Rockford, IL) eliminated Troy Muley (Rockford, IL) at 7th place by a 5-4 margin, while Tony Loper (Rockford, IL) ousted Bob Romano (Homer Glen, IL) 5-4 at the same placement.  In the B-side quarterfinals Minihan and Loper were dispatched into 5th place respectively by Aaron Hernandez 3-5 and Paul Scott 3-5.  In the loser’s semifinals Hernandez squeezed past Scott 5-4, but Aaron could not keep up his momentum in the B-side finals, as Jeff Sargent victimized him 5-2.   The tourney finals almost went to a second set, but Tom McCloskey kept his undefeated march to the title alive in route to a 5-4 defeat of Jeff Sargent!

By virtue of Aaron Hernandez being the highest-finishing ACS member in the event, he qualified for a free 8-ball singles entry into the 2008 ACS Nationals in Las Vegas – courtesy of the ACS.  The ACS wishes to thank sponsors McDermott Handcrafted Cues, Championship Billiard Fabric and Nick Varner Signature Cases for their support in donating “Value-In-Kind” product for this and all stops on the McDermott All American Tour. Sponsorship opportunities are still available for the 2007/2008 All American Tour by contacting the ACS.

The Tour continues on Saturday, October 27, when one event will be showcased - a $500 added 8-ball event at Cue Masters Billiards in Dubuque, IA (contact Bill Kramer at 563-557-0875).  Further information, entry details and schedules for the 2007/2008 McDermott All American Tour are available at www.americancuesports.org.
