Forty-eight of the World's best Over 40s players have arrived in Korat, Thailand to compete for the IBSF World Masters title.

The field is a veritable Who's Who, or even Who was Who!

One of the favourites for the title will be Welshman Darren Morgan, the current European Masters Champion.

Morgan, formerly the World No. 8, won the IBSF World Amateur title in 1987, and, 20 years on, aims to lift the Masters title to complete a clean sweep of Masters wins in 2007.

First of all the likely title contenders have to negotiate their way through the Group Stage.

The 48 players are divided into 8 groups, where every one plays each other once, with the top two progressing to the knock out stages.

Group By Group:
Group A:
Multiple World Billiards Champion Geet Sethi will be the man to watch here. He is up against experienced Scot Stevie Baillie, and Mike Hines from South Africa. Adel Al-Emadi from Qatar is a non-starter in this group.

Group B:
Defending Champion Mohammad Yousuf will be favourite to top the group. The Pakistani has another former World Amateur Champion, Praput Chaithansakul, the Thai favourite, in the group

Group C:
The current Australian Champion Glen Wilkinson heads the group, with former European Masters Champion Jyri Virtanen providing stiff opposition. Watch out for Hong Kong's Ricky Chew to maybe cause some upsets here.

Group D:
Another former World Amateur Champion from Thailand, Chuchat Trirattanapradit, will be the heavy favourite to top this group. But He'll need to watch our for Belgium's Danny Moermans and New Zealand's Gary Gillard.

Group E:
Darren Morgan has to content with Switzerland's Dean Thomas, an ex-pat Welshman. Mauritius' experienced player Saleem Moosa moves up from the Men's to the Masters for the first time and Thailand have another heavyweight in the group - Kanchai Wongjan. Watch out here for some shocks from Kuwait's Ahmed Al Tarkait.

Group F:
European Masters finalist Kieran McManon heads the group, along with former World Billiards Champion and Pro Snooker star Robbie Foldvari, from Australia.

Wales' John Terry, a former Boy's Snooker Champion is a serious danger to the two favourites and Egypt's Mustafa Mahmoud could cause a shock or two.

Group G:
Yet another former World Champion from Thailand tops the list here. Sakchai Sim-Ngam will have all the home support and he's be challenged by three Europeans - Brendan Cooney from Ireland, Erwin Goethals representing Belgium and Kimmo Lang from Finland.

Group H:
2005 European Masters Champion Michael Maguire, Scotland, along with former professional Somporn Kunthawung from Thailand head the group, but this group is very open, with England's Master Colin Mitchell and New Zealand's Henry Killan both likely to be in the shake-up. Germany's Frank Schroeder will also fancy his chances of reaching the knock out stage.

Play commences on Sunday 11 November at 4pm (Thailand time = GMT +7 hours)
