Russia's Jury Pashtzhinsky loses to the Kazakh 6-7 in dramatic final.
Yelena Bounos becomes Belarus' first ever World Ladies Champion.

24 ladies and 57 men from 16 nations signed on for the 2007 edition of World Freestyle Pyramids Championships. The event has been held at Kiev's National Sports University on November 22-25.

Ladies:

Both finalists never could win the world championship crown before.
Yelena Bounos (Belarus) lost in last years final to Anna Mashzhirina (Russia) and to Anastacia Lyuppova (Russia) in the final of this years European Championship. But the Ternopil Major Cup and European Cup Volgograd and Odessa Champion was classified as one of the top favourites.
Shanna Shmatshenko from the Ukraine won the European Cup Minsk leg, but that followed she lost 6 times in a row to the Belarusian......

and it seemd like the Ukrainian was affected by this. In every frame she had her chances, but couldn't make use of it. After Bounos' 3-0 lead the Belarusian played up and gave Shmatshenko only two chances in the next two frames. Again the Ukrainian didn't make enough points, so Yelena Bounos with 5-0 claimed her World Championship crown.

Results:
Quarters:
Bulgakova (BLR) 2-4 Shmatshenko (UKR)
Parisher (LAT) 2-4 Sheldina (RUS)
Bashzhuk (MOL) 1-4 Bounos (BLR)
Klimova (BLR) 2-4 Maximova (ARM)

Semis:
Shmatshenko 4-1 Maximova
Bounos 4-1 Sheldina

Final:
Shmatshenko 0-5 Bounos (3-8, 0-8, 1-8, 1-8, 6-8)

Men:

Both semi finals were dearly purchased victories when Jury Pashtzhinsky (Russia) and Kanuibek Saguinduikov (Kazakhstan) overcame to Arman Baklachyan (Armenia) and World Dynamic Pyramids Champion  Kanuibek Saguinbayev (Kirghizia) with the same result: 6-5.
However, at the end 2 outstanding Pyramids artists stood in the final again:
Jury Pashtzhinsky, World Champion 2005, semi finalist and World Team Champion 2006, and
Kanuibek Saguinduikov, World Champion 2001 and 2004, European and Asia Open Champion 2004.

Continuing the tournament's dramaturgy meant Pashtzhinsky as the favourite in the final, but the Kazakh more than one time has proven that the match against him is decided not till the last ball.
Final format: best of 13 frames

The first frame was in and out: The Russian made 8 balls in a row, 1-0.
Then Pashtzhinsky's break was not successfully what Saguinduikov brought to the table. An error of the Kazakh after the 2nd ball gave Pashtzhinsky the chance to extend his lead, but he made not use of it - just 2 balls. The Kazakh made the necessary 6 balls: 1-1.
The 3rd frame also went to Saguinduikov, in the 4th Pashtzhinsky again ran the game out: 2-2.
In 5th frame the Kazakh trailed 2-5, but thereafter he ran out a difficult layout with some filigree shots: 2-3.
Saguinduikov stayed at the table and cleared also the next rack, but Pashtzhinsky replied with 16 balls in a row: 4-4.
Frame nine was hotly contested, and with the 10th the Kazakh extended his lead to 4-6.
Saguiduikov had the break, but made an error after 2 balls. Pashtzhinsky could pot 5 ones, but missed the next ball. The Kazakh answered with only one ball, but also the Russian potted just one ball.
After another mistake of Saguinduikov the Russian took the point to 5-6 and claimed also the next frame, but the decider was controlled by the Kazakh. He ran out the last frame 8-4 and captured his 3rd World Champion title.

Saguinduikov (KAZ) 6-2 Larionov (MOL)

Semis:
Pashtzhinsky 6-5 Baklachyan
