Twenty four teams representing 22 countries will descend on Germany to compete in the 2006 World Championship National Teams Three Cushion Carom Billiard event which is being staged at the Festhalle, Viersen.

Hosted by the German Billiard Union, this event is organised by the Union de Billard (UMB).

Competing in Groups of three teams, the event will see countries participating in the following groups:

Group A - Turkey, Vietnam, Italy
Group B - Netherlands, Mexico, Czech Republic
Group C - Germany "A", Korea, Ecuador
Group D - Belgium, Egypt, Columbia
Group E - Sweden "A", France, Switzerland
Group F - Denmark, Portugal, USA
Group G - Spain, Austria, Sweden "B"
Group H - Japan, Greece, Germany "B"

The Swedish "A" team consisting of Torbjorn Blomdahl and Michael Nilsson will be looking to defend their 2006 title for a seventh successive time, but will have to wait to discover who their first opponents will be.  They will play the losers of the opening Group E match between France and Switzerland.

One of the Championships longest serving competitors, Jorge Theriaga from Portugal, will be a notably absent from the event, having played in every tournament since 1989.  His replacement, making his debut in this event will be Manuel Oliveria.
