Splendid Eight: Illness made it impossible for Pashtzhinsky to win
The third Splendid 8 quarter final would have become a great match of world No4 Yury Pashtzhinsky (Russia) and Ukraine's Yaroslav Tarnovetzky, world No13.
But Pashtzhinsky's trip to 'X-Time' St.Petersburg was a burdensome one: He had a cold and played the match with a temperature. Accordingly his game was not as normal. At last the Russian was steamrolled by his opponent 1-9.
So Tarnovetzky in semis will met Kanuibek Saguinbayev (Kirghizia) on October 14.
The fourth and last quarter final match of Kanuibek Saguinduikov (Kazakhstan) and Petri Pohjola (Finland) is scheduled for May 21. The winner will play Alexander Palamar (Ukraine) in semis.
Get well soon, Yury!
